This is my first attempt at a cover... No video because I don't have a way of recording myself as of now. Maybe later sometime... Who knows? There are some mistakes in here, but I hope you don't mind too much. And synching was a bitch. xD Anyway, enjoy!

Today I began to play this song, after I had heard it for about two weeks. After scarse four hours of uninterrupt playing... that´s the result... There are some problems with the intonation and sometimes I did some mistakes. Maybe I will do a better version soon. I played it by ear, so unfortunately I have no music sheet. Some parts of my cover were a bit experimental :) The original song is here: www.youtube.com Author: Martino Ugolini Website: www.staubfinger.altervista.org

Monica Germino talks about Louis Andriessen's La Girò (2011), for violin & ensemble. Andriessen wrote La Girò for a violinist who also sings and speaks. The voice is meant to be untrained and casual in style. This trailer is an initiative of the Asko|Schönberg ensemble; produced by MvdVMedia. Partially subtitled (Dutch to English). Andriessen: "In La Girò I am musing about a composer I admire a lot: maestro Antonio Vivaldi. The title refers to Anna Girò, Vivaldi's favourite singer. The piece would not have become the 'performance' it is without its dedicatee, the violinist Monica Germino. The soloist (La Girò, perhaps?) does not only play the violin. She also sings an Italian song, whispers and talks, tells stories and dreams. The ensemble consists of a small chamber orchestra, with an added piano, harp, cimbalom and some percussion. The piece has four parts: the first three form a kind of concertino while the actual musical drama takes place in the fourth, slow part."

Saitensack is the evolving new ways to play the violin or viola. Is it music? The instruments are neither modified nor amplified. Essel develops an imagination that playing the violin means: the violin plays. Consequently the violin is played in a way that the violin plays. Strings are not pressed by fingers but rather damped. Only by bowing the strings are excited to complex free vibrations, not flageoles. Sounds come up from the violin itself with associations to illion pipes with cracking and breaking like yodel. The emergence of the sond is only influenced by the energy of the bowing but happens unpredictably. Saitensack is kind of a dynamic state oscillating around the border between noise and tone, from very quiet to very loud. The origin of tones out of the noise is the focus investigating in the very begin of tones. Saitensack in a way zooms into the very character of string instruments.
